Costa Rica has become a popular ecotourism center because it is the greenest coast throughout the world. With about 500,000 different animal species, dry forests as well as rain forests and numerous active volcanoes, Costa Rica has become the foremost choice for conservation and ecotourism. In fact, the government of Costa Rica is planning to make it carbon neutral by 2021.
With much hype about ecotourism these days, a Nature Tourism program of Texas AgriLife Extension Service is also on offer at College Station, as an ecotourism field course. It will take place through 19-26 January 2012. It is specially designed for tourism professionals, landowners and community representatives, wanting to gain in-depth knowledge about ecotourism and agritourism from experts in the industry. Since the program includes visits to tourism operations and discussions with ecotourism and agritourism business owners, it helps participants get an insight on how their clients have survived and succeeded.

For eco travel Bali the Ayana Resort is highly recommended. This resort has been certified by TUV Rheinland in Germany as an eco hotel, in recognition of its reduced carbon footprint. The hotel has achieved this honor by implementing environmentally sustainable operations and practices in many different areas.
TUV Rheinland conducts an intensive audit over a period of 18 months before awarding a certification. This audit includes a site inspection, interviews with management and hotel staff, a documentation review, and follow-through on an action plan. The final audit of Ayana found that the resort met all of the strict ecological standards, thanks to sustainable practices including waste water recycling, composting, eco friendly products and energy efficiency. In fact, Ayana had implemented many of these practices years before 'Eco Hotel' became a trendy concept.
