Bring your Quarter 2 2007 Diaries with you to exchange for a new one. The plan is to meet at 2.00 pm at Jill and Tom Goodman's House at Landreyene SX 286 760. for a short walk on local lanes and footpaths, noting the changes in wildlife at this time of year. Weather permitting, we expect to see most of the common butterflies, learn a few common plants and possibly some birdsong. We can have a slide show of local wildlife, if the weather is wet.

At this time of year, The local lanes are awash with wild flowers. We want to do a count of the number of different species. This will be followed by a look at the bat species at the mill - last time we found 4 or 5 different species, identifyi g them by our bat detectors. We will also put out a Moth trap to collect species overnight..

Meeting Directions.  Meet at Greystone Bridge where the minor road from Roundhill Cottages levels out, before the traffic lights (SX 367 802). Please share transport as parking is limited. We will be walking about 2 miles, only, on the Devon side of the river  following a woody valley to Bradstone Church and impressive Manor - early home of the Cloberries in the 1600's - and returning by quiet lanes and another footpath to the bridge. If time permits at the end, we will explore the small Woodland Trust property - Howard's Wood on the steep slopes below the quarry.

Meet at Brenda's House at 2pm. We will walk into the Kensey valley South of Kyrse, returning over Bagdall Downs and Napp's Moor to the village of Tremeer (or  all the way back to Cold Northcott of anyone is keen for another mile of lovely country lanes).

Please bring your completed diaries. We will explore some of the local countryside to the west of Clubworthy, with some of the local landowners permission. Weather permitting, we expect to see most of the common butterflies, learn a few common plants and possibly some birdsong. Returning to the house, Ian will show us a recent video of Noctule Bats leaving a tree roost and we can stay to do counts on the Pipistrelle and BLE bats in their buildings
