Countryside Agency

"Making the quality of life better for people in the countryside and making the quality of yhe countryside better for everyone"

- achieved through analysis of quantitative and qualitative research, through practical evidence from pilot and demonstration projects and by helping others to adopt the lessons we learn. We provide financial support for projects to help with conservation, recreation and social and economic development. We also help government departments ‘rural proof’ their policies to ensure that the impact on rural communities and people is properly considered. We provide impartial advice to senior government Ministers. And we have statutory duties, including designating National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Trails and opening up access to mountain, moor, heath, down and common land.
