This is a large project  and we need any help that you can give to set up the project or in collecting data for the project.

Collecting data within parishes. As well as recording things that you see on a regular basis, we need help in identifying landowners to ask permission to survey and for feedback on local wildlife. We also need a coordinator in each parish to liaise between volunteers, landowners and myself, preferably someone who is on the internet.

Developing survey projects for volunteers. Anyone with knowledge and interest in any particular subject e.g. reptiles, small mammals, birds, wild flowers etc, could help in setting out the information needed for survey packs and for the website.
Developing the Website. We are also looking for people to write something regularly about wildlife in their parish and for experts to help us produce lists of what to look for and record each month. If anyone has web developing skills, we would be glad of advice and help to make this website easy to read and navigate as well as sharing the load in expanding the information available on the site.
Artwork and Photographs.  The survey packs and the website both need good illustrations to bring survey packs and web pages to life and to simplify the identification of selected species e.g. drawings of the markings on the heads and bodies of grass snakes and adders, or of specific wildflowers that we want volunteers to find and record.
Sponsorship. Although the project was set up with a grant, we have no regular funds to cover the running costs of survey packs, more surveying equipment as numbers of volunteers grow, photographic expenses etc. Contributions from local businesses are welcome.
Natural History Books. We have an library of books, pamphlets and journals, acquired either though the original Millennium Award, or through car-boot sales. This available to anyone in the local area and so far has been used extensively by local schools. If you have any books journals, encyclopedias etc on natural history that you no longer want, then consider putting them into this library. We will make good use of them.
